SACRIFICE (PART 2)

Every sacrifices requires an alter. In the dealing of God with humanity, alter has being playing a major role in shaping the destiny of mankind. As we earlier defined, sacrifice is an offering of any sort for a purpose with the idea of procuring favour or avoiding disaster. Hebrew 9 vs 26-27, which means to get any thing in life, there must be a sacrifice. Now, what it the connection with sacrifice and alter? A sacrifice needs an alter for it to be made and accepted.

An altar is any structure upon which offerings such as sacrifices are made for religious purposes. Alter means to change in character or to become different in some exacting way. Now, let us put the two definitions together, then i will say an altar is a structure that accept a substance that relates to the destiny of a people and changes its character to become different either positive or negative. The sacrifice is the substance and the altar is the structure.

Going back to time, some where, the patriarch of our families have raised an altar (a structured) that have gone ahead into the future of the unborn generations. On this altar, they sacrificed in quest of the protection, healing and prosperity of their children to strange god's. Thus, for any one that becomes born-again, these god's claim ownership of lives. Therefore, there is need for every born again christian to handle the issue of family altar with all tenacity. (to be continued)
